Dr. Amal Kumar Mandal

Dr. Amal grew up in Midnapore, West Bengal, India. He received his bachelor's (2005) and master's degree (2007) in chemistry from Vidyasagar University in West Bengal. He pursued his doctoral research work in photo-responsive supramolecular assembly and molecular recognition at CSIR-CSMCRI under the supervision of Prof. Amitava Das. Subsequently, he joined the research group of Prof. Yanli Zhao (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) as a post-doctoral fellow to work on imaging reagents using the multi-photon excitation process. Subsequent to this, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Jurriaan Huskens (University of Twente, Netherland) on molecular Nano-patterning on surfaces. Following this, he works as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Namur, Belgium, and UNIST, South Korea. Amal then joined the CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute in 2018. His current research interests focus on supramolecular chemistry, functional organic materials o(Organic/inorganic), and supramolecular polymer. When not in the lab, Dr. Amal enjoys outing, exercise, drinking coffee and spending time with his family.
